Here’s the deal: Sister Erika Haub over at The Margins tagged me the other day. It’s an honor to be included on her list of “excellent or subversive” blogs—though I’m not sure which category I fall under. I usually run the other way on stuff like this, but I decided this could be an excuse to give a shout-out to some of the truly excellent/subversive blogs out there. So below is my list of ten, in no particular order. (Disclaimer: I could’ve listed a lot more than ten, but I’m trying to stick to the rules; check my list of “Friends & Links” on the right for a more comprehensive blog roll.)
- Gospel Gal (LaTonya Taylor)
- 17 Seeds (Linda Leigh Hargrove)
- Postmodern Negro (Anthony Smith)
- The American Race (Leon Wynter)
- Jazz Theologian (Robert Gelinas)
- Do U C What I C? (Chris Brooks)
- Soong-Chan Rah
- H-n-T (Holly Vincente Robaina)
- Musings of a Christian Psychologist (Phil Monroe)
- City Grace (Joel Hamernick)
- Urban Onramps (Rudy Carrasco)
- Christine A. Scheller
- Shlomo’s Hideout
Okay, I realize my math is funny. I won’t say anything if you won’t.
Ed,
Thanks for contributing! I echo your choices of Christine and Rudy for sure.
Oh, and I would have to say that you fall under both the excellent and subversive categories 🙂

Hey Ed,
Wow! I made the cut. I truly am honored to be included in such a way, thanks.

Thanks Ed,
I will get back to exploring intersections eventually, but in a sense that is what I am still doing as suicide is the third leading causing of death among young people. It’s a national crisis that has tragically touched our family.
I’ve been reading along here too, keeping my head at least partially engaged in the world outside our grief.
I added a link to my blogroll in honor of our son. He would read these posts aloud to his white coworkers. They had a sense of humor. Here it is:

The writer is a white person, by the way … with a book deal.
Ed,
thanks for the shout out. I enjoyed the 17 seeds site immensely. will tour the others soon. ..
Joel.
PS. Would love to see an entry on Thomas Oden’s book “How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind” and its implications for (re)doing evangelical theology. . . . .
Ed,
Thanks bru for the shout out. I guess this means I need to blog more. Love the work you are doing for the kingdom. Keep on keepin’ on.

I like your subversive math. ; – )
Now, I think I’ve said this elsewhere… but, isn’t excellence often subversive?
Whoo-hoo! Thanks for the shout-out, Ed.
Ed,
You’ve put me in a predicament…I usually don’t do these tag things either…but it felt good to have you include me in your list. Now what do I do? Do I do a list and extend this love to others for love is subversive or do I not do a list because that is subversive?
Your friend,
robert
Hey, I see UMI is listed among the Best Christian Workplaces for 2008 – http://www.bcwinstitute.com/2008US.aspx!

CAS- Thanks for the stuffwhitepeoplelike recommendation. I needed a laugh this morning, and it was provided in abundance. Brilliant!
Your welcome, Tyson. I especially like the post about New Balance sneakers … because I’m a jogger training for a marathon. Sigh! So predictable.

May God bring his healing touch to your lovely wife this day.

Hi, Ed. Thanks for the shout out. I’ve been so wrapped up with writing and designing of late that I haven’t been doing my usual blog reading. Sorry for the coming late to the party.
[Thanks, Shlomo, for reminding me to reconnect.]
